Guarnaschelli is an Food Network Iron Chef America contestant who competed with Cat Cora for the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 on Iron Chef America. In addition to her role as a Judge on the show the show in 2011, Guarnaschelli took part in the show's fourth season wherein she placed third. She also competed on Food Network's Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast and lost. She was elevated to sous-chef in the kitchen of Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian following the 4th season of The Next Iron Chef. She became host of The Food Network's The Cooking Loft With Alex Guarnaschelli in 2008, where she instructs a small class of students on how to make classic recipes.
